Ludhiana : The Punjab Police on Saturday claimed to have identified the accused-cum-victim, Gagandeep Singh (31) in the Ludhiana court bomb blast case, who allegedly had links with pro-Khalistan elements based in Pakistan.

A high-intensity explosion took place at a public toilet in the district court complex in Ludhiana on Thursday, killing one person and injuring six others. According to the police, the person who died while planting the bomb was Singh. He had been a head constable in Punjab Police and was sacked in August 2019 after heroin was recovered from his possession. Quoting sources, it is learned that he had allegedly tied a bomb around his stomach to trick the security personnel.

A reliable source said, “To avoid being traced, he had tied the IED around his stomach, as he knew it would be impossible to enter the court premises without doing it. By tying it to his body, he would detonate the bomb. Was able to take it in.” Singh had also allegedly conducted a recce of the court premises to carry out his plan.

The Punjab Police has found that the ISI helped a German-based radical Khalistani group, which helped carry out the blast. Punjab Police’s investigation has also revealed that Khalistani henchmen are working in connivance with the drug mafia and Pakistan-based arms and drug dealers.

This is probably for the first time that drug dealers having international links are working with Khalistani operatives and ISI agents with the intention of creating terror and carrying out terrorist activities across the country especially in Punjab. A top police source said that they want to create anarchy-like situation in Punjab.

ISI is helping Khalistani groups to spread their agenda against India. The name of ISI has also come up in Ludhiana blast. Singh reportedly had links with Khalistani operatives, who were acting at the behest of the ISI. When he was lodged in a Ludhiana jail in connection with the NDPS case filed for possession of heroin, he had established links with the ISI and Khalistani operatives.
