  • India takes strict action against Canada; 6 Canadian diplomats expelled, certain time given to leave the country

New Delhi : India has taken strict action against Canada and decided to expel 6 Canadian diplomats. They have been asked to leave the country before 12 midnight on Saturday, October 19.Those who have been expelled include Stewart Ross Wheeler, Acting High Commissioner, Patrick Hebert, Deputy High Commissioner, Mary Catherine Joly, First Secretary, Lan Ross David Trites, First Secretary, Adam James Chuipka, First Secretary, Paula Orjuela, First Secretary. Earlier, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Canadian Acting Diplomat regarding the matter and informed him that it is unacceptable to make allegations against the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats without any evidence. The government made it clear that such allegations have created an atmosphere of extremism and violence and the safety of our diplomats is in danger. We have no confidence in the commitment of the current Canadian government to ensure their safety. “Therefore, the Government of India has decided to recall the High Commissioner and other targeted diplomats and officials,” the MEA said. “It was also noted that India reserves the right to take further steps in response to the Trudeau Government’s support for extremism, violence and separatism against India.”
