  • Installing cameras can bring good results in Badkot range in the coming time : Tarun S.Rishikesh: (Manoj Rautela) An important training workshop/session  was organized by the forest department in Badkot range on Thursday near Rani Pokhri in Dehradun District. In which information was given on how to install cameras in the forest and what precautions should be taken during camera installation. This training workshop was organized in the presence of IFS officer Tarun S. This was the first one organized in the year. During this, Ranger Dheeraj Rawat of Badkot Range and Ranger of Rishikesh Range Gambir Singh Dhamanda were also  present and other forest personnel of both range participated. In the present times, this kind of technology is proving to be very beneficial for reducing the increasing human-wildlife conflict and for wildlife conservation. Along with this, the department also collects a strong data to keep an eye on wildlife. During the training, experts from WWF, former forester and retired from the post of SDO Hem Shankar Maindola, Priyanka and Pallavi gave many important information related to installing cameras in the forest to the forest personnel. During this, both men and women were present among the forest personnel. Especially what is the benefit of installing a camera and how important its utility has become in the current scenario, this was told. Along with this, how to handle the camera? At what height to install it, how to install it? And when to check it etc. Also, what precautions should be taken while installing the camera so that the wild animals can be captured in the camera and you can get strong and effective data.

IFS officer Tarun S. while talking to National Vani said, as far as conservation is concerned, we have to first look outside the protected area, because we know that in the protected area, especially our protected animals, their number is increasing. Especially carnivorous animals are increasing and so are elephants. Now, to meet their increasing population, we should have suitable ecological or environmental areas for the living of special species of animals or plants. Sink (technical term) refers to a forest that absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere than it emits. He said,  There is a lot of potential in Budkot. As far as sink is concerned. That is why we are conducting this exercise. So that in future we can minimize the conflict as far as it is concerned, not only in Dehradun but also in Rajaji National Park and Haridwar area. What are the possibilities in Badkot? How much possibility is there? We are also gathering information about this also. And are exploring possibilities. During the training, forest personnel also asked many questions to the experts, which included both technical and general questions. He said,  In this exercise/training, about 30 forest personnel from Badkot and Rishikesh range received Technical information like how to install Cameras in Forest.  Expert team of WWF had reached here. Badkot corridor, especially if seen, is a very critical corridor between Rajaji National Park and Narendra Nagar. During this, Ranger Gambhir Singh Dhamanda of Rishikesh Range and Ranger Dheeraj Rawat of Badkot Range, Forest Beat Officer Badkot Kapil Sharma, Forest Beat Officer Veerbhadra Rajesh Bahuguna, Prakash Anthwal, Aman, Amrita, Jyoti and other forest personnel were present.
