Doctors of Surgical Gastroenterology Department of AIIMS Rishikesh performed successful surgery on such a patient with robotic technology

Rishikesh :  The specialist doctors of AIIMS Rishikesh are setting new records day by day. Recently, the doctors of the Surgical Gastroenterology Department of AIIMS Rishikesh, using robotic technology, successfully performed surgery on a patient whose gall bladder had developed cancer and it was very risky to do the surgery through the incision. The patient is now healthy and has been discharged from the hospital.

36 year old Rameshwar Prasad Deoli, resident of Muni Ki Reti area of Rishikesh, was suffering from stomach ache for a long time. He took his illness to many private hospitals, but he did not get any relief. When he was seen at the Surgical Gastroenterology OPD of AIIMS Rishikesh, he came to know that cancer had formed in his gall bladder and it had spread to the liver. Due to the large size of the cancer, he was first sent to the Medical Oncology department for chemotherapy. After chemo, the second test determined that surgery was the only option to cure the disease.

Giving information, Dr., Head of Surgical Gastroenterology Department. Nirjhar Rakesh told that the operation of gallbladder cancer through open incision is very complicated. Therefore this complex operation was done with robotic technology. He told that this complex surgery which lasted for about 5 hours was done on 22nd December last month. Team member and Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Dr. Lokesh Arora said that if biliary cancer is not treated on time, this disease rapidly spreads to other parts of the body and the life of the patient becomes in danger. He said that the patient is recovering rapidly after the surgery and seeing the improvement in his health, he has been discharged from the hospital. The team that performed the surgery included Dr. Nirjhar Raj Rakesh, Dr. Lokesh Arora, Dr. Sunita Suman, Dr. Mithun and Dr. Neeraj Yadav and Dr. from the anesthesia department. Ankit Aggarwal, Dr. Arun and Dr. Arhaan was included. Whereas nursing officers like Ritesh, Manish and Suresh etc. had special support.
