Delhi: Shalija Dhami given command of a combat unit in West Sector


Delhi: Group Captain Shalija Dhami of the Indian Air Force created history today. He has been selected to command a frontline combat unit of the force in the western sector. She will be the first woman to command a combat unit in all three services. Group Captain Dhami will command a missile unit near the Indo-Pak border in Punjab. Group Captain Dhami was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 2003 as a helicopter pilot. He has over 2,800 hours of flying experience. She did her schooling from Government School in PAU campus and higher education from Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana. It is a matter of pride on International Women’s Day.
