Delhi: Powerful meeting of Vladimir Putin with PM Modi today, India will get S-400 and AK-203 ! here the agenda

New Delhi: The heads of state of both the countries are going to meet today with the intention of making the military ties between India and Russia even stronger than before. This meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to prove to be very powerful. Putin may be coming to India on a short tour, but during this time he can give many such gifts to India including S-400 missile system and AK-203 rifle, which is sure to increase the tension between China and Pakistan.

• According to the news agency ANI, during his visit, the Russian President will hand over the model of the S-400 air defense system to PM Modi.
• A big and important deal of about Rs 5100 crore is also expected to be signed between the two countries for the production of An-203 rifle in India. These rifles will be made in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.
• The AK-203 rifles will replace the more than three decades old INSAS rifles inducted in the Indian Army. It is expected that the Indian Army will get 7.5 lakh AK-203 rifles.
• The AK-203 Assault Rifle Agreement was agreed between the two sides a few years back and now the last major issue will be to resolve the technology transfer issues. Of the 7.5 lakh rifles to be acquired by the Indian Army, the first 70,000 will include Russian-made components as the transfer of technology is gradual.
• According to the news agency ANI, the two sides will also discuss the Igla Shoulder Fired Air Defense System, but there is little hope of an agreement on this.
• A major agreement that could be signed is the Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement (RELOS), which will allow the armies of the two countries to access logistics and support facilities at each other’s military bases.
• India and Russia will also hold the first 2+2 talks between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in New Delhi.
• In this meeting, the ministers of the two countries are expected to hold in-depth discussions on key regional and international topics, including the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and developments in Afghanistan and Syria.

Putin’s visit comes at a time when there are deep differences between the two countries on several issues. For example, Russia is friendly to the Asia-Pacific region instead of the Indo-Pacific region at sea. Its stance on Afghanistan is closer to that of China. Russia is also opposed to the Quad, an alliance of India, the US, Australia and Japan.
