Delhi : INS Khukri has been Decommissioned After 32 Years of Service

New Delhi : Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khukri has been decommissioned after 32 years of service. INS Khukri was the first of the indigenously built missile corvettes. This information was given by the Ministry of Defense, Govt. of India.

The ministry’s statement mentioned that the national flag, the naval ensign were lowered at sunset at a ceremony held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. The ceremony was also attended by Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and some serving and retired Commanding Officers of the ship.

This corvette was built on 23 August 1989 by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and had the distinction of being part of both the Western and Eastern fleets.
