Delhi : Indian Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh retires from all forms of cricket
New Delhi : Harbhajan Singh, one of India’s most successful spinners, on Friday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Harbhajan Singh is known a good fighter in the field.
The 41-year-old from Punjab has taken 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 wickets in 236 ODIs and 25 wickets in 28 T20Is in his illustrious career. The off-spinner tweeted, “Saying goodbye to the game that has given me everything in life, all good things also come to an end. I want to thank all those who made this long journey of 23 years wonderful and memorable.” Harbhajan made his international debut in 1998 against New Zealand in Sharjah.
He played his last match for India in a T20 International against the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka in March 2016. He took 32 wickets in the three-Test series against Australia in March 2001, including the first Test hat-trick by an Indian. It is one of the most memorable moments of his illustrious career. Harbhajan is married to Geeta Basra Singh who is a British-born Indian film actress who has appeared in Bollywood films.
