Delhi : Central Government imposed ban on international flights till 31 January in view of the threat of Omicron
New Delhi : In view of the threat of the new ‘Omicron’ variant of Corona, the Central Government has decided to ban international flights till 31 January 2022. This information has been given by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The DGCA has also clarified in the order that this restriction is not for all-cargo flights and special approved flights.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation had issued an order on 26 November saying that all international flights to and from India would start from 15 December. But due to the fear of Omicron variants increasing all over the world, the Indian government postponed its decision. International flights are closed in India since 23 March 2020 due to Corona epidemic. Later, from July last year, flights were approved under bubble arrangement with around 28 countries. At present, India has a bubble arrangement with 32 countries.
According to the revised guidelines of the Ministry of Health, RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for passengers coming from risk category countries or arriving in India through those countries. The passenger will not be allowed to leave the airport or board the connecting flight until the test results of the sample are received.
