Delhi: BBC Documentary: Ruckus before screening in DU, protesting students in police custody; Section 144 applied

New Delhi : The controversy over the screening of a BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots is now heating up. Delhi University Proctor Rajni Abbi has already written a letter to the Delhi Police asking for appropriate action regarding this. The BBC documentary controversy has spread from JNU and Jamia to Delhi University. The screening was given by NSUI Kerala at 4:00 pm today at Arts Faculty. But it could not be organized. Heavy police force is deployed outside the gate so that there is no dispute. Police has also imposed section 144. At the same time, the protesting students have been detained by the police.

The screening of the documentary has come to the fore on Friday from Ambedkar University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. However, the university administration has cut off the electricity there itself. Due to this, students are watching already downloaded documentaries on their phones and laptops. Apart from this, ABVP students vandalized the protest.

Significantly, after the screening of the documentary at Jadavpur University in West Bengal on January 24, it was said that it would be screened in universities across the country. In view of this, as a precaution, DU Proctor Rajni Abbi has written a letter to the Delhi Police in this regard.
