New Delhi : Delhi Police has arrested 12 Africans whose visas have expired, amid ongoing crackdown on foreign nationals residing in the national capital illegally. An official has given this information on Tuesday. According to the official, a police team from Dwarka district arrested 12 African nationals in two separate operations.

The perpetrators have been identified as Fidelis Nnadoji Imafidon, Cletus Iveribor, Saturday O’Khale Oligby, Oracube Paul Nwachuku, Kingsley Uche Osuji, Augustine Ogochukwu Okafor, Oumar Diaby, Ogbona Remigius Nwabusi, Jude Okeke, Amaz Obaga and GIFT. “After verification of their credentials, it was found that they were staying in India for longer periods without valid visas,” the official said. He was produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) along with his original passport, following which the FRRO ordered his deportation on Monday. Recently, Dwarka District Police launched ‘Operation Prabhuti’ in its mission to make the area crime free. Since the launch, many gangsters, snatchers and robbers have been arrested in a short span of time. Police is also keeping a watch on foreigners living illegally in the area. Some African nationals living in and around the national capital are involved in drug trafficking and are regularly being nabbed by the police.

According to a Delhi Police official, an increasing number of African nationals are looking for opportunities to earn money in the national capital. Please inform that the population of Uttam Nagar police station is about 3.75 lakhs. A lot of African nationals are living in this area and some of them are living here with fake/expired visas.

“There are also NDPS Act cases registered against him for supplying medicines to local people and people from other areas. Apart from this, some cyber fraud cases have also come to the fore involving African nationals,” the official said. Meanwhile, all the 12 foreigners have been sent to Detention Center in Lumpur.
