Dehradun: Suspend the JE of smart city and action against the contractor should be taken:DM

Dehradun: District Magistrate Dr R Rajesh Kumar has directed to suspend the JE of Smart City and take legal action on the concerned contractor as per the provisions mentioned in the Disaster Management Act 2005 at Karanpur Police Post.

District Magistrate Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar today inspected the smart city works from Ghantaghar to Dilaram Chowk, Rajpur Road, Prince Chowk on Thursday. During the inspection, the District Magistrate dug a pit in the drain construction works at Kanak Chowk near Parade Ground and no construction work was found on the spot and despite warnings given several times in the past, due to laxity in work and rain from the dug pit. Expressing strong displeasure in view of the safety of life and property during the period, he directed to suspend the JE of Smart City and take legal action on the concerned contractor as per the provisions of Disaster Management Act 2005 at Karanpur Police Post.

During the inspection, District Magistrate Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar directed the officials of Public Works Department including BNR, the executive body to fill up the potholes on the road from Rajpur Road to Dilaram Chowk, immediately increasing the labor at night.Along with this, while posting AE and JE at each spot, the officers of Smart City and LND were instructed to fix the road till night and the Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue to monitor this work. At the same time, giving a stern warning to the concerned officers, he said that in case of laxity in works, legal action under the Disaster Management Act would be implemented keeping in view the public safety. The District Magistrate gave clear instructions that if there is any loss of life or property due to potholes in the road, then strict action will be taken against the concerned agencies under the Disaster Management Act.

During the inspection, Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue KK Mishra, CGM Smart City Padma Kumar, CGM Jagmohan Chauhan, Addl. The concerned officers of Smart City Ltd. including Abhi PV NVDC Nautiyal were present.
