Dehradun: Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu held a meeting in the Secretariat on Friday regarding the strengthening of the health care system during the Chardham Yatra. Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand  Dr. S.S. Sandhu held a meeting regarding strengthening of the health care system during the Chardham Yatra at the secretariat on Friday. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that there is a need to increase the health facilities along the Chardham Yatra routes to make Chardham Yatra better and safer. He said that every possible effort should be made for this.

The Chief Secretary said that the medical history information should be taken during the registration for Chardham Yatra itself. Also, the health of the devotees above 55 years of age should be examined during the yatra. Medical check-up should also be done for people below this age who are looking unwell. He said that after registration, information about the health problems faced by the pilgrims during the Chardham Yatra and what to do and what not to do should be made available through calls, messages, audio messages etc. The Chief Secretary instructed to increase the number of medical relief camps on the pedestrian routes. He also directed to increase the number of first responders. Said that hotel and dharamshala operators should also be encouraged to make arrangements for first responders. On the one hand, the health problems faced by passengers in hotels etc. will be rectified on time, on the other hand, paramedicals will also get employment. For this, he also directed the health department to provide short term training to paramedical unemployed youth. He said that uniforms of all health facilities, first responders, doctors should be prescribed for Chardham Yatra, and along with the uniform, a special color of all health facilities should also be prescribed so that devotees can see these health facilities and health workers from a distance.

The Chief Secretary said that after knowing the practical problems in the areas from the people who had worked in these places in the previous visits, plans should be prepared to solve them. He said that applications should also be sought from doctors willing to work in Chardham Yatra. This will greatly improve the availability of doctors along the Chardham Yatra routes. On this occasion, Secretary Sachin Kurve, R.K. Rajesh Kumar, Director General Health Dr. Vinita Shah and high officials of other related departments were present.
