Big achievement…Lakshya Sen from Almora won Canada Open Super 500 Badminton Tournament, PM Modi also congratulated
Almora: Lakshya Sena, a resident of Almora in uttarakhand won the title of Canada Open Super 500 Badminton Tournament. Here in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Lakshya Sen for winning the title of Canada Open Super 500 Badminton Tournament. He said that his success is a proof of his determination.
PM Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to the talented Lakshya Sen for his stupendous win at the Canada Open 2023. This victory is a testimony to his perseverance and determination. This has made our country proud. Wish him all the best for his future competitions.”
Commonwealth Games champion Sen clinched the Canada Open title after defeating China’s Li Shi Feng in straight games. India’s Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen won the Canada Open title. In 2023, the current All England champion has won the Men’s Singles title by defeating China’s Li Shi Feng (World No. 10) 21-18, 22-20 in straight games. It is a matter of pride for India. Lakshya is a great player. Presently His ranking is 19 in the world. This is Lakshya’s second BWF World Tour title. He had earlier won the India Open in January 2022. Lakshya, currently ranked world number 19, beat world number four Kunlavut Witidsorn of Thailand in the round of 32 in the semi-finals while world number 11 shuttler Kento Nishimoto of Japan won the title. Talking to news agency PTI after registering the victory, Lakshya Sen said, ‘It was difficult to come in the Olympic qualification year because things were not going in my favor. So this win will boost my confidence a lot.
Lakshya further mentioned in his statement that he had to put in more effort in some matches. Because the conditions were different. Lakshya Sen said, ‘I had to go deep in some matches, the conditions were different and it was important to get used to it’.
