Ahmedabad: BJP MLA Dr. Asha Patel dies during treatment for dengue, was MLA from Unjha assembly constituency

Ahmedabad: BJP MLA Asha Patel has died of dengue in Gujarat. Bharatiya Janata Party MLA in Gujarat Asha Patel died on Sunday at a hospital in Ahmedabad while undergoing treatment for dengue. Party leaders said that 44-year-old MLA from Unjha assembly constituency of Mehsana district died at Zydus Hospital, where she was on ventilator. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel told reporters, “It is with great sadness that I inform that Unjha constituency MLA Asha Patel is no more with us. She was admitted to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad for the treatment of dengue, but the gravity of his case was such that despite all the efforts of a team of doctors, he could not be saved. Nitin Patel told that his body will be taken to Unjha and kept in the market courtyard, where common people will be able to pay his last respects and his last rites will be performed on Monday at Sidhpur crematorium.
The Gujarat unit of the BJP said in a statement that Patel had contracted dengue soon after returning from Delhi and lost her battle against the disease on Sunday.
