Goa Police were also shocked to hear about the incident. The women’s bodies were found tied with ropes. Police observed a similar method of killing in both cases. Both bodies were found on Friday. Police have arrested a 37-year-old Russian national, Alexey Leonov, in connection with their murders. The deceased women have been identified as Elena Kastanova (37) and Elena Vaneeva (37). According to the Goa Police, both women were murdered in a similar manner. Their throats were slit with a knife. Their hands were tied behind their backs with ropes. The body of the accused’s live-in partner, Elena Kastanova, was found on Thursday night in their rented house in Arambol, Goa. The incident came to light after this discovery. According to the landlord’s complaint, the incident occurred after 11 pm.

The second woman was a friend of both the accused and Kastanova. While the murder investigation was underway, police received information about the murder of another Russian woman, Vaneeva, in the Morjim area, eight kilometers from the first crime scene. The investigation revealed that Vaneeva was a friend of both the accused and Kastanova. According to statements received by the police, Kastanova and the accused had been living in the rented room for about a month. A fight had broken out between the two on January 14. Kastanova asked a Russian woman living next door to intervene, but she refused. After the murder, the accused jumped from the balcony and fled.

A neighbor told police that she later heard Kastanova screaming. By the time she reached the room, Leonov had already jumped from the first-floor balcony and escaped. He then went to Morjim village, about eight kilometers away, on the evening of January 15 and killed Vaniva. The motive behind the murders of both women is being investigated. Police are also investigating Leonov’s background and possible criminal connections. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of foreign tourists. There is a palpable fear among both locals and tourists regarding security. Police are also investigating whether the accused committed any other murders. The reason for the killings is yet to be determined. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
