Delhi: PM Modi hosts prominent Sikhs from across the country at his official residence
New Delhi: Two days ahead of polling for the Punjab Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hosted prominent Sikhs from across the country at his official residence here. In a video of the meeting, it is seen that the guests are seen giving kirpan to Prime Minister Modi.
Some of the prominent Sikhs organized by the Prime Minister include Delhi Gurdwara Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka, Padma Shri Baba Balbir Singh Ji Sichewal, Mahant Karamjit Singh, Yamuna Nagar President Sewapanthi, Dera Baba Jang Singh (Nanaksar) Baba Joga Singh from Karnal, Amritsar Sant Baba Major Singh wa Mukhi Dera Baba Tara Singh wa were included. Other prominent Sikhs are Jathedar Baba Sahib Singh (Kar Sewa Anandpur Sahib), Surinder Singh Namdhari Darbar (Bhani Sahib), Baba Jassa Singh Shiromani Akali Buddha Dal, Panjwa Takht, Dr Harbhajan Singh, Damdami Taksal, Chowk Mehta and Singh Sahib Giani Ranjit Singh. , Jathedar is Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
BJP leader Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa was also present on the occasion. The BJP is contesting the Punjab Assembly elections in alliance with former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s Shiromani Akali Dal (United).
Voting for the 117-member Punjab Assembly will be held on February 20 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
