Delhi : Patanjali’s misleading advertisement case: Baba Ramdev apologized to the Supreme Court, SC said – this is not acceptable

New Delhi :  Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna appeared in the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the case of misleading advertisements of Patanjali. Advocate Balbir appearing on behalf of Baba Ramdev said that no such mistake will be made in future. Apologize for the mistake that happened earlier. The Supreme Court said on this that not only the Supreme Court, but any order of any court in the country should not be violated. The court did not accept Patanjali’s apology. The court said that you have no idea what you have done. We will take contempt action. This case will be heard again on April 10. Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna will have to be present in the court.

The Supreme Court had on March 19 summoned yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda managing director Acharya Balkrishna. A bench headed by Justice Hima Kohli said Ayurvedic company Patanjil did not respond to the contempt notice issued over the continuous publication of misleading advertisements. On February 27, the bench had initiated contempt proceedings against Acharya Balkrishna and Patanjali for violating the assurance given before the apex court in November last year. The bench also included Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah. Patanjali had earlier assured the Supreme Court that it will not make any statement claiming medicinal efficacy of its product or advertise or brand them in violation of the law and against any system of medicine in any form of media. Will not issue any statement.

In its petition, the Indian Medical Association has sought action against Patanjali for violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. Cases have been registered against yoga guru and Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev in several states for his controversial comments against allopathic treatment of Covid-19. In a video, Baba Ramdev had said, “More people have died due to the use of allopathic medicines than due to lack of oxygen or beds.”
