Delhi : Farewell of Chief Justice U U Lalit, he said, I started advocacy in SC in front of Justice Chandrachud’s father
New Delhi :On Monday, a farewell ceremony was organized in the Supreme Court on the occasion of the retirement of the current Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit.
CJI Justice Uday Umesh Lalit is retiring from his post on Tuesday. During his farewell speech, he recalled his 37-year journey in the Supreme Court. It was during this emotional moment that he told people about the old days when he first started his practice in the Supreme Court. During his address, CJI Lalit said that for the first time in the Supreme Court, he started his practice in front of the father of Justice DY Chandrachud and the 16th Chief Justice of India Yashwant Vishnu Chandrachud.
Chief Justice of India Uday Umesh Lalit said that he acted with enthusiasm during his tenure as both lawyer and judge. Chief Justice Lalit is retiring on November 8. He along with his elected successor Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M Trivedi sat and addressed the ceremonial bench of the Supreme Court for the last time on Monday afternoon.
He said that my journey started from this court and is ending in this court today.
Justice DY Chandrachud, who is going to become the 50th CJI of India, said that it was the specialty of Justice Lalit that he became a justice here after working as a senior advocate in this court.
Justice DY Chandrachud assured Justice Lalit that there would be continuity in the reforms he worked on in the Supreme Court. Attorney General R Venkataramani said in the program that he is extremely grateful to the Chief Justice.
