Delhi: Election Commission Cancels Appointment of Sonu Sood as ‘State Icon’ of Punjab

Delhi : The Election Commission of India has canceled the appointment of Sonu Sood as the ‘State Icon’ of Punjab. About a year ago, the Election Commission had appointed Sonu Sood as the ‘Icon’ of Punjab. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer S Karuna Raju said in a statement on Friday that the Election Commission of India has annulled Sood’s appointment as the ‘State Icon’ of Punjab on January 4.

Let us tell you that actor and social worker Sonu Sood had said in November last year that his sister Malvika is entering politics, but she has no such plans. Sood originally hails from Moga district of Punjab and came into the limelight for helping migrants reach their homes during the Covid pandemic.

He had arranged for transport to take the migrant workers who were unemployed due to the Covid-19 lockdown and stranded at different places to their homes. His humanitarian work was admired by all sections of the society. Let us inform that assembly elections are to be held in Punjab this year.
