Delhi : Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit takes charge as Vice Chief of the Air Staff
New Delhi : According to the Defense Minister, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit took charge as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff on Monday. Dixit, an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, was commissioned in the fighter stream on 6 December 1986. “He is a graduate of Staff Course, Bangladesh and National Defense College, New Delhi,” the ministry said. Dixit is a qualified flying instructor as well as experimental test pilot with over 3300 hours of flying experience on fighter, trainer and transport aircraft.
He participated in the operations ‘Safed Sagar’ and ‘Rakshak’. Air Marshal Dixit commanded the Mirage 2000 Squadron, which is a frontline fighter base in the Western Sector, as well as a major fighter training base. He previously served at Air Headquarters as Principal Director of Air Force Requirements, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Projects) and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Planning). The air officer has also been the Air Defense Commander of the Southern Air Command and was the senior air force officer in the South Western Air Command before taking over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff.
