New Delhi : The ruling BJP MPs created a ruckus in Parliament on July 28 for calling President Draupadi Murmu ‘national wife’. On his behalf, there was a demand for apology from Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Sonia Gandhi. Amidst this controversy, Sonia Gandhi defended Adhir Ranjan and said that he has apologized. At the same time, while talking to The Indian Express, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury got emotional about the objectionable statement and called Sonia Gandhi his guardian.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan said, “Union Minister Smriti Irani in Parliament attacked me by taking my name. To which I sought time to reply but I did not get a chance and the House was adjourned till noon. Later I went to the Speaker, requesting him to allow me to answer the charges leveled against me.

Adhir Ranjan said that Sonia Gandhi also went to the speaker and asked to give time to present my side. He told the speaker that “the impatient should be given a chance to respond.” Adhir Ranjan said that it was a very important day in my parliamentary career, I felt that I am not an orphan…Sonia Gandhi is my guardian.
