Dehradun :Pushkar Singh Dhami made an official claim to form a new government in the state

Dehradun : Uttarakhand’s nominated Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh on Monday evening and made an official claim to form a new government in the state. Sources said the swearing-in ceremony of the new government is likely to be held on March 23-24.

Earlier, Dhami was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party at a meeting held in Dehradun in the presence of central observers Rajnath Singh and Meenakshi Lekhi. BJP’s Uttarakhand election in-charge Prahlad Joshi, state in-charge and national general secretary Dushyant Gautam along with state MPs also attended the meeting.

Congratulating Dhami after the legislature party meeting, Rajnath Singh said that under his leadership there would be all round development of Uttarakhand. He said, Dhami left a mark by running the government for six months.The BJP has recently created history by becoming the only party to retain power in the state for the second consecutive time since its formation. The saffron party won 47 seats in the 70-member state assembly, though Dhami lost from Khatima constituency.

After Dhami’s defeat, speculations started about his future, but the BJP leadership has given him the responsibility of running the government for the entire term.Dhami was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on July 4 last year. He replaced Tirath Singh Rawat, who resigned after Trivendra Singh Rawat for not being elected to the assembly within the required time period.

Dhami had worked in various positions in the ABVP, the student wing of the RSS, for many years. He also served as the president of the youth wing of the BJP in Uttarakhand for two terms. He became MLA from Khatima twice but lost the election this time.
