Dehradun : After the crushing defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal resigned on the instructions of the Congress high command. Godiyal was the Congress President in Uttarakhand with the shortest tenure. On 22 July 2021, the Congress high command handed him the captaincy of Uttarakhand.
After reviewing the assembly elections, the high command on Tuesday demanded the resignations of all the presidents after reviewing the crushing defeat in the assembly elections of five states. Godiyal said that taking moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in the assembly elections, he has submitted his resignation today.
According to Godiyal, I wanted to resign on the day of the result but stayed on waiting for the order of the high command. On reaching Delhi today, as soon as it came to know that the accountable office bearers of all other states, where the elections did not get the expected success, are resigning from their posts, I have also submitted my resignation. I will continue to fight as a Congress worker.
