Chandigarh :  6 suspected terrorists arrested in Punjab grenade attack; ISI involved

Chandigarh : Punjab Police on Friday claimed that it has achieved a major breakthrough in the grenade blast case in Mohali. Police have arrested 6 terror suspects in this case. Police said that Babbar Khalsa International was involved in the attack at the behest of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Director General of Police (DGP) V.K. Bhavra told the media here that he has disclosed the matter. Canada resident Lakhbir Singh Landa, a close aide of Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, is the main conspirator of the attack.

Landa, who shifted to Canada in 2017, is an aide of Rinda, who conspired.He said that both work for Babbar Khalsa International and ISI. Those arrested include Kanwar Bath, Baljit Kaur, Baljit Rambo, Ananddeep Sonu, Jagdeep Kang and Nishan Singh. Nishan Singh had allegedly provided the rocket propelled grenade, which led to the explosion.

Rambo, a resident of Tarn Taran, picked up the AK-47 rifle and gave it to the absconding Chadat Singh.Police said Mohammad Asim Alam and Mohammad Sarafaraz, both residents of Noida, (who hails from Bihar) have been arrested. Nishan Singh was the first arrest in this case. He obtained Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) from Landa and delivered it to three persons.

On Monday evening, a grenade attacked the Intelligence Bureau headquarters in a Porsche area of ​​Mohali, breaking window panes on the third floor of the building. A police officer told IANS: The RPG (rocket propelled grenade) was fired from a distance by unidentified persons. A Swift car was spotted at the spot, reckoned by two miscreants before the attack.

The aim of the attack was to harm officers of the high level Organized Crime Control Unit, whose offices are in the Intelligence Wing Headquarters.
